Can anyone identify this seedling?

Hello, I've been planting loads of seedlings lately and labelling then with wooden markers, but my dogs find them irresistible and have chomped through this seedlings identifier.  It's quite distinctive but for the life of me I can't remember what it is, any ideas?

Probably Morning Glory - Ipomoea.  :)
I find a sticky label on trays can be quite useful, especially if you have lids on them and there isn't room for the usual labels to stand up.

    I agree … ipoemea 😊

  • That's it!  I knew it would come back to me haha.  First time I have grown it from seed so looks like it will be good and strong.    Thanks for the advice 😸

They should be fine @heatherjtthomson - it's easy to forget what you've sown if there's a lot of them, and then something happens to your labels!
They look a wee bit leggy so try and make sure they have enough light - keep turning them. Mine are not quite that far on, but I turn mine several times a day if I'm here.

They'll need pricked out soon too, and you can plant them a little deeper when you pot them on.  :)

  • Thanks Fairygirl, do you think they are ready now or still too soon?

Too soon - wait until they have proper leaves  :)

I haven't even sown them yet as our soil being clay stays so cold for so long I have to sow indoors in May and then transplant out. Maybe I will do it a bit earlier.

They always have to be sown indoors here - they need adequate temps to germinate and grow.
Mine are pricked out and potted on, and planted into their final pots around mid to late May or early June, depending on what stage they're at, and how many I have.
I rarely plant them into beds/borders as they're too easily eaten, and the soil's too cold until around end of May, although I've got so many this year that I may plant a few clumps into the bed against the house wall and let them take their chances.  I've never sown direct.
