Newcomer Introduction. and I'm a first time winner.

So I'm new here, decide to take up gardening as I suffer from poor mental health (anxiety/social anxiety and depression) and I am a good bit overweight, so lifestyle changes are in force - stopped fizzy drinks 2 weeks ago, stopped smoking a year ago, started to eat breakfast and lunch, and now I'm eating more fruit and veg and I'm hoping to try walking about more and doing more in the garden,

I'm a dad of 3 kids the oldest is 10 then 2nd oldest is 9 and newest is 11weeks. My wife is my rock, she used to do the garden bits n bobs but I had a go with some plants last year and they outgrew everything so I was told I had "the touch" and we decided to do it together with the kids, we bought a 6ft by 10ft polycarbonate greenhouse, and a couple house propagators, and at the moment we have seedlings sprouting for Melons, Gherkin Cucumbers, Dill, Savory, Chives, Romanesco, Pear drop tomato, and Cauliflower - Still waiting for the Lemon drop chilli pepper and the bhat jolokia chilli pepper (ghost chillis) to pop up.

I'm here to join the forums as I bet I can learn so much from all of you.

I entered the competitions on the website and got an email the other day saying that I had won - it was the plant care phostrogen bundle so I was well chuffed as it's my first ever gardening win.

I have added some pics of my setup so far including my pallet made works lol also used pallets to make raised beds but it didn't let me upload them lol

Welcome @ElementalJesta I never do the competitions. Perhaps I should give it a try!

Hello ElementalJesta, I “shout” because I’m half blind. But you don’t have to “shout” back, it’s OK. 😊

Looks like you’ve got yourself a nice little hideaway there. I can spend hours pottering about in my greenhouse.

If you could, maybe add your approximate position on the planet in your details. That way people can help you more easily if they know whether they are dealing with half way up Ben Nevis or on the Isles of Scilly. 🙂

lol im in Perthsire up in scotland but im in the sticks lol so not in the hustle of the town!

Welcome @ElementalJesta, love your greenhouse set up. I'm all for re-using old pallets, they come in very useful. I made compost cages with some, tied together with plastic ties - dead easy. They've lasted a good ten years so far.

Great that you're getting the children involved as well.

Welcome @ElementalJesta. Well done on the installation of your greenhouse. I hope everything grows well for you, but don't worry if it doesn't always, that's life! It's exciting when your seeds germinate and you pick your first tomato.

Welcome @ElementalJesta. Gardening is great for the soul and you can lose yourself amongst the plants and small creatures when the rest of life is causing anxiety levels to soar. I hope it brings you and your family much joy.

Welcome @ElementalJesta - looks like you are well on your way and I look forward to seeing you about on the forums.  Kids love sowing seeds and watching them germinate and their smaller fingers are quite good at the pricking out stage too.  Your greenhouse looks perfect.

Welcome @ElementalJesta, you've found yourself a friendly forum, and looks like you've got yourself a lovely hobby. There's something about gardening that makes people optimistic, the wonder of how such a tiny seed can transform into a glorious plant.
Time spent in the garden with Dad will always be happy memories for your children.

@pansyface - I don't think the greenhouse would have survived five minutes if it was half way up the  Ben...
and certainly not during the last few days ....:D

Nice area for you @ElementalJesta's  - not been up that way for quite a while. At least we've had a shot at the sun on this side in the last few days though  ;)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
