Ants in the vegetable beds

Hi everyone, not been on for a while and I've been busy.

Just finished the new vegetable bed, literally today. And I've noticed that there are a lot of ants, Should I be worried?

The beds are no dig, using soil I've dug from the new path I'm digging and bagged farmyard manure. I can't say I saw the ants when digging the path (the amount in the bed were very noticeable), or on the plot when I lifted the polythene cover I used to smother the weeds.
I'm mainly growing carrots, cabbage, spring onions, beans and peas in the beds. That's what I've sown so far.

Thanks for the help 🙂

Keep it well watered for a bit and I mean very well watered and the ants will move on, they don't like a wet house.
  • They are probably there because you gave them nice warm, dry soil. Once you begin cultivating and disturbing them they will move on.
