I have 3 in my garden and two were slow to show any signs of life this year and when they did they were a couple of weeks apart, the other still has no signs of life at all. Another in my brothers garden has flowe buds and a few flowers at the moment.

I noticed that mine had a lot of dead wood showing which is very unusual.
I cut that out and there was a lot of new growth behind, and it seems to be romping away with its usual vigour.
Late getting going this year, like a lot of things.

Thanks to everyone who responded to my questions about my clematis Montana. I have found them helpful and encouraging. Never expected all that advice and of course don’t know if it’s from professionals or just experienced gardeners.
First time I’ve done this sort of thing so thanks again. I will give it a chance and wait and see!
