Update + ideas needed!

Hello,
I posted on here a while ago needing some advice for what to do with our garden. We have changed quite a bit and I am really happy with how it's going, but I wondered if anyone has any ideas on how to make it look more wild/ cottage looking! I have two clematis, a few rose bushses, some hydrangeas and will soom install a wooden archway next to the fence with a climbing rose (thought I'd mention as difficult to see in the photos) Many thanks 😊

For a cottagey look I suggest bigger/wider borders and lots more plants, packed in so that they fill the space when in full growth. With wider borders you can have more than one row of plants with mostly taller ones at the back and smaller ones towards the front.

@English_girl_in_France When you have alot of fences it is difficult to focus on your lovely plants. I agree the only way you can tackle this is to widen the borders. You can then plant in tiers of three with the tallest at the back.
If you have a Garden Centre or nursery near to you try out this idea with plants in pots. They may even display plants in this way. Three tiers in a border 1.5m deep always works. You may be able to do this in your stepping stones border.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
