Found all the Willow Bark Aphids...!
In case you've not heard about the search for these specific aphids in Spring:
Was finally getting round to chopping off all the branches on my Salix Mount Aso on Sunday when I realised that they were covered in these aphids. Happily I remembered hearing about the above campaign, so duly plotted my sighting. Just had confirmation back from the RHS that this has been added to their data collection.
Crikey there were a lot of these aphids, though. Interestingly, none are visible on the other bog standard willow we have (left overs from when the previous owners tried to create a living willow fence, but some plants kept and chopped to the ground each year, as they are holding up part of a bank, and the prunings are good plant supports!).
