That sounds great. Best of both worlds @chicky
    In London. Keen but lazy.

You've all pretty much confirmed my thoughts on the subject . I wanted to see if I was being unreasonable discounting the idea and sort of hoped I wasn't.
Confession: I watch some of those cruise adverts or infomercials as a form of horror movie. Svelt sophisticated women drinking champagne with expensively toupeed and dentured men in splendid isolation with nobody to disturb you but an attentive waiter.
I think I'd prefer rain and grass and muddy boots.

I think I know precisely which adverts you refer to @B3.  The voice of the woman doing the voiceover on river cruisesdrives me mad, and I'd hate to actually have to put up with that on a real trip.  I'm trying to work out where the 'waarlld' is.  That spelling is the closest I can come to the way she says 'world'.

I won't even join a walking group.  When I'm walking I want to be able to move at my own pace and stop/start whenever I want.  Virtually every group I've ever watched seems to have a Captain Mainwaring type, or the female equivalent, giving out the orders and expecting the rest to fall in with them.  Not for me.
