@Eustace@Dovefromabove@ANYBODY. I wonder if there's a plant that could be planted on clay soil, fast growing, easily got rid of, whose roots would break-up the clay. Or am I dreaming of a gardening utopia ?

I have laid flat a pallet base with a few slats removed on the ground and made a strawberry bed. It is now in it's third year. HTH.
This is something similar to what i was planning but as i say im worried that the pallet will break down. I dont want the structure to need replacing after 3 years or so
