Are my Salvia Amistad dead?

    Great - I'll hold on for a few more weeks and see how they go! Fingers crossed. 

    If not I'll replace them with Salvia Caradonna.

    Mine look pretty much like your photo, but today I noticed one or two very small green shoots at the base, worth waiting as you said

     A Friend who knows much more than I do about gardening looked at my Amistad (which I was about to dig up ) and said I should wait until the first or second week in May before giving up on them. I have decided to take that approach with a lot of my shrubs and perennials as we have had such a chilly early spring.

    I agree about waiting but also very much about the slug/snail warning. I  thought one of our was dead a few years ago till I saw the slime trails and realised the  shoots were being eaten off before they had got going.
