Planting raspberries down a slope

Hello all

I have 15 raspberry canes ready to be planted and I thought I ought to get the area a bit prepped. I’m planning on planting them against this fence which is south facing, though, as you can see, runs down a slope.

I assume there will be no issue planting the canes vertically going down the slope and tying them back against a wire I’ll run between fence posts?

Edit: the above is at around 600mm centres, could I squeeze them a bit tighter and get more of my 15 in?
I’ve no idea what I’m doing.

They won't care about the slope. Don't put them any closer in 2 years you'll be having to thin them every year anyway.

@Latimer , Mine are planted about a foot (is that 20cm?) apart in the only piece of ground I had left. The runners are now coming up about a metre away so far! I just pick them off.

@Lizzie27 a foot is around 30cm so half the distance I was planning!

Its very late to be planting new raspberry canes. Make sure you soak them well if they are bare root.
