Cucumber seedlings dying on me!

I planted a food number of Cucumbers and Courgettes in the heated propagator. They suddenly shot up and were a bit leggy so I planted into pots (too early for Greenhouse), however most of them have died. I'm wondering if I planted them too deep and rotted the stems or is there something else I've done wrong?

Yes - if you planted them deeper than they were originally they've probably rotted at the crown.
I always plant courgettes and cucumbers slightly higher than they were so that the crown is just above the soil level - they're very prone to crown rot

Thanks for the responses. Suspected that's what I did. Got some more on the go so will be more careful.
