When can courgettes go in an unheated (plastic) greenhouse?

Started my courgettes too early and have learnt my lesson as they are getting too big for my windowsills! I’m getting conflicting info from googling – can anyone tell me if they’d be OK to go in a fake plastic greenhouse in Somerset now? I could bring them in at night or if the temp starts dipping again. They are in not-quite-big-enough (10 inch) pots at the moment, I was going to repot them in bigger pots when they go outside properly in late May. They are Astia variety.

  • (by not quite big enough I mean not big enough to be their final growing pots; they’re big enough for the moment.)
  • Although, I've just posted cos I killed a number of cucumbers and courgette seedlings lol, I think I can answer this. if the temperature is above 15 degrees during the day it should be ok as long as the plants have a few leaves and look strong. I've done this in the past (in Scotland) and it's been fine.
  • Mine have been out in my unheated greenhouse for about a month already - they all seem fine. It may depend where you are in the country though. Aside from chillies Ive got everything in the greenhouse now.

We always have ours in our unheated greenhouse by this point in the year, and bring them in overnight if a frost is predicted. Same with our Cucumbers, Squashes and Tomatoes.  Like Shauna, we usually keep the Chilli's indoors until May.

Is it a walk-in greenhouse or a covered shelving unit type? If it’s a walk in one, I find my paving slabs act like radiators and take the edge off the cold nights. Don’t risk if frosty though.
My garden and I live in South Wales.

It’s a covered shelving unit one but big enough that you can walk in… it’s on hoggin so not sure if that would have much effect. But it sounds like I’m good to put them out and bring them in if it gets too cold.

    Thanks all!
