Keter-style plastic storage chest no longer closing!

Hello,

Can anyone advise me what can be done to return my storage box to some degree of function!! The lid and the rectangular chest below it no longer slot together; one or the other section seems to have shunted off angle.

I’m wondering if something can be remedied with the hinges or pistons, even though they don’t appear broken themselves.

Any ideas most gratefully received!

I wonder if the box is not sited on a level bit of paving?  It looks from the photo as if the front right corner has dropped.  If you think this might be right, you could try inserting slates or similar under that corner to see if it brings the base into alignment with the top...

Contact Keter UK, let them know what the problem is, send some pictures to illustrate the problem and see what they can do.

I recently received 4 new lids for my 4 Store it Out Max boxes free of charge.

And bearing in mind, all of the boxes were out of guarantee by between 5 and 6 years.

They have one of the best customer service departments I have ever dealt with, nothing is too much trouble.

Hope they can sort it for you.

Thanks for scrutinising. Alas, it’s a trick of the camera and nothing has dropped, just fine sqwiff!

Thank you. Perhaps unfortunately, it’s not a Keter but another US maker called Lifetime (😂). I’ve written to them but am not holding out much hope.

If we get an hot weather and you can't find any other solution, you might want to try emptying the chest and standing it on end to push the lid back in line.  A few hot days like that might do it.

Hi @tuttifrutti81 I had a similar problem with a plastic outdoor storage box which meant almost taking it to pieces and reassembling, it was absolutely fine after that. It had just got out of alignment. Good Luck.

Mine did that, just a slight change in the level does it,  if you hold diagonal corners and wiggle it a bit you’ll see where the problem lies.
