Bottom of a French drain

What do u put at the bottom of a french drain? It is in the middle of a field so will have to be underground- do you just fill the hole with stones? I've read that the top end should have a cap on it to stop it clogging.

    When  I did it I filled the trench with reasonably sized gravel and covered the gap between the pipes with porous weed suppressant material.

    Never done it in my garden, but installed thousands of metres for work. Always line the trench with geotextile to stop fines clogging up the pea gravel.

    Yep i have ordered the fabric & pipe. Just not 100% sure on how to finish each end.

    ?Woven plastic coal sacks if you've got any.  I used them once for a soakaway.
