Jasmine trachelospermum help

Don’t quite know what’s went wrong here. Had this plant 3 years and seemed to be doing fine. Didn’t flower as much last summer. Not sure if the cold weather in Scotland has got to it.

It’s still green under the bark at the base. Worth cutting back or just rip out and replant?

Leave it be, it will resprout new leaves. Cut out any obviously dead, brittle growth. We've had a particularly bad winter, one of mine doesn't look great either but from experience, they can come back from this if the stems are still living.

Whereabouts are you @Dinnerplatedahlias🌸. They really don't thrive here where I am  - if they survive at all.
The last two winters have actually been milder than normal here.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • @Loxley I’ll remove the dead stuff although that’s about 80% of the plant right now 😅 thanks for advice!

@Fairygirl I agree I didn’t think last winter was too bad hence why I’m surprised how damaged it is.

I’ll report back if I get some regrowth 🤞

Wait a bit. They are often unhappy in a cold winter. If it is dead then don't plant another on, choose something else. They really prefer somewhere warmer than Scotland.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
