    Yes - pinching out is needed if they're not quite ready to go out in their final spot, and are getting big. That's more common if sowing in autumn, but also if sowing early in the year, and you're in a mild enough area for them to grow more rapidly.
    If you were sowing around now, or had done so in the last couple of weeks, they wouldn't really need it, they'd just grow on normally. I think some people might still pinch them out, but it isn't worth it here. Our season is shorter anyway, so it would delay flowering even longer.  :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
