There has actually been research done on this, which supports all the comments saying English Bluebells are just as invasive as Spanish ones. (The study actually said they were more so).
I've tried to grow them here but to no avail. Last year I tried again and all I have this year are a few green leaves. They have been planted in various places around the garden, in sun, in shade, different soil conditions, but nothing.
You need enough space for them - regardless of type. In a small, domestic garden it's not so easy to keep them where you want them. In the right setting, native bluebells are beautiful.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
