Fruit fly or fungus gnat? (Around my tomato plants)

Hi all, further to my post about trying to grow tomatoes - I have a lot of green shoots (hurrah) and have repotted some that had multiple leaves. Now I seem to have loads of small black flies everywhere. We do have fruit flies each year and it has been warmer the last couple of days, but I've now discovered there is such a thing as a fungus gnat, and that could be it. I trapped one in a glass and took a photo - does anyone know which it is?

    I don't know, but I'd take a guess at a flea beetle

Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit.
Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.
  • I get fungus gnats every year because I bring in my potted herbs to overwinter.  They are annoying, and if you do a search of images what you have there looks similar, but it's hard to tell.  Here's a good comparison - https://www.orkin.com/pests/flies/fruit-flies/fruit-flies-vs-gnats
