    There is very little that will actually stop people from taking plants. Even a high wall and security gates cannot guarantee this. Reduce the likelihood, yes - but who wants to go to that expense, when it's cheaper just to buy a new tree, shrub or flowers.

    I live in town, and I have to accept the possibility of things going missing. I shouldn't have to, but that's life.
    Hence the pyracantha hedge. That in itself wasn't cheap, and at risk of disappearing, but I took the chance. 
    Of course, someone might spray it with weed-killer overnight.
