Winter honeysuckle in container

I’ve got a half whiskey barrel and a cutting of winter honeysuckle which is going great guns. I’m thinking about sticking with it in containers so I can place it near a door. Anyone see any reason why it wouldn’t do ok in a container?

I don't know about the longevity of the plant in containers, but I believe winter honeysuckle doesn't look its best during summer, so you might find yourself wanting to move it elsewhere during that period, which of course you can do in a container.

I bought one last year to plant up in my garden, but never got around to it, and it is still growing happy in the pot I put it in. Will be planting it out this year.

I agree it can be very scruffy out of season. It is also a very thirsty plant so ensure it doesn't dry out. With care I don't see why you cannot grow it in a half barrel but long term it will need to be in the ground.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
