Prunus - Plum or cherry, probably the latter.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Really , Cherry  as in fruit ? Or blossom ?  I’ve been here for a few years now and there has been no fruit on the tree .
    thanks

    Flowering rather than fruit.  :)
Having said that - they will produce fruit, but not the kind we would eat. Birds eat them.

  • Well these flowers just fizzle away after a while.

That looks more like crab apple blossom to me.

IME Prunus blossom appears before the leaves, whereas apple blossom comes just after the leaves are on the tree.

I agree, those leaves look more Malus than Prunus

I think it's Malus floribunda... very pretty tree, and grows in just that shape..  doesn't produce much in the way of crab apples, they are very tiny and barely noticeable and not grown for that purpose..

Apologies - the only trees with any blossom on them round here are prunus, and they're only just getting flowers, although the wild ones are going over. Apples are a good bit later.

I forgot it could be different/earlier in other areas.  :)
