humane mouse trap; deep bucket with a cardboard tube balanced on the edge and a blob of peanut butter at the end of the tube.
A multi-mouse humane trap that originated in a tree farm in Canada:
Rotatable wheel, could be a cardboard tube, suspended over a deep bucket. The wheel should not be accessible from outside the bucket. Bated, the mouse stretches across to reach the bate, the wheel or whatever rotates, the mouse slips into the bucket.
This device might be patented. It will continue to catch mice until they are able to stand on each other's shoulders. In the original there was water in the bucket, this might negate the description "humane".
When I catch mice, they come in pairs. Really rather touching.
location: Surrey Hills, England, ex-woodland acidic sand. "Have nothing in your garden that you don't know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful."
