Transplanting Onion sets

Can I plant onion sets in 4" pots and plant out in 4/5 weeks?

The reason being I'm moving house end of april/start of may.

I'd like to grow a fair amount of Onions so plan on planting either in the ground or in large planters which would be too large to move from house to house.

Or would it make more sense to keep the sets until I move and plant then? Missing 4/5 weeks growing time...

Onion sets are Sturon and Red Baron.

Thanks!

I start all of my onion sets off in standard module trays in mid March then transplant into the ground around now. I do this because the ground is often too wet and cold in March for direct planting. If it's going to be 4/5 weeks before yours go in the ground they will be quite large.
Module trays are easier to transport than pots as they sit securely in standard seed trays.
