Recovery for cordyline

I have this cordyline tree but think it has seen better days. Any means of recovering it back to life.??

a bigger pot would help, or, better still, plant it in the ground

I have several cordylines in various pots and beds, all of which are at least 8 years old.  This year they all look dead, presumably due to the odd weather we had this winter.

I’m leaving mine for a few weeks to see if they sprout from the base like they do when growing well, then I’ll cut off the dead stems.  An experiment and I might end up pulling them up and planting anew.
