I have 4 of these size cell trays, only about 4" deep, any idea what I can sow in them?

Don't believe anyone can answer that for you. What would you like to sow? Flowers or veg? Take a look at online seed catalogues and see what inspires you.

Also take a look at what to sow in April

Almost anything, they look and sound a pretty standard size for module trays. Probably not runner beans or sweet peas as they like a deeper root run. Some things are best sown where they want to grow or in larger pots but as @Jenny_Aster says what would you like to grow?

It would be easier for us to say yes or no, than try and list all the hundreds of things you could grow.

Do you want to grow flowers or veg … or some of each?

    Do you like salads?

I think you mean 4 cm (actually probably 5) not 4”.

If you do like salads...then chuck in some lettuce.

Pref veg based seed ideas (sorry I was at work) think I'll have a go at lettuce, anything else I could try?

If you’re going to sow lettuce,  just sow a few at a time,  then more next week,  you don’t want to have 48 lettuces all ready to eat at once.

This may inspire you but when buying seeds, go to one of the independent sellers rather than Thompson and Morgan or Suttons. https://www.gardenersworld.com/how-to/grow-plants/how-to-grow-microgreens/
    Also consider herbs.

@Lyn that might be a problem for me 😁

@Sheps if you like spicy salad leaves to go with your lettuce, you could sow some of those.  "spicy salad leaves mix" ( Mr. Fothergill ).  "Mixed leaves Elegance" ( Johnsons ) are a slightly milder mix.  Various Mustard leaves too.  Those 3 tend to germinate more or less at the same time which makes life a lot easier  Rocket takes a bit longer as does Land cress.
As Lyn says, 48 lettuce of the same variety all at once may make  you go off the idea altogether ;)
If you want a bit of colour to add to your plain green lettuce - the Lollo Rossa or Salad Bowl Red are ideal and can be used as Cut and Come again.
BTW, if you are careful and use sharp scissors, you can cut your 48 cells in half.
Here's wishing you a successful Salad Season  :)
