Dropping new leaves on lemon tree

Hi, I’ve left this lemon tree out one night during the cold and it got most of its leaves off except a few remaining. Later I was happy to see it grows back a lot new shoots in spring, but somehow the leaves all grow so big, soft and drooping. It’s nothing like the normal hard and glossy leaves. I’ve been keeping it at this corner in my living room with indirect sunlight through the winter. I thought it’s how new leaves would look like but after weeks they are still in this floppy state. I also notice a few irregular “holes” on some of the leaves. What could be wrong with my tree please?

    Some photos of the tree
this is the corner it stands

one of the “holes” on the leaf

this smaller sturdy looking leaf is one of the old ones that has not fallen off due to me stupidly leaving it outdoor overnight

There is another post about another lemon tree and that looked much worse than yours. Consensus about the other one was that it will do fine.
I wish I could garden all year round!

That was a silly action. It would have really suffered after an over-cossetted life.

Lemons don't mind it cool, down to -5ºC briefly.  But they do need as strong daylight as possible; it is surprising how dark our troglodyte houses are indoors, even by a window.

Now it has grown too quickly with too much heat and too little light.  The leaves are in consequence a  bit soft and floppy.  Mine in a bright garage has not yet statred into growth.

The holes are just minor damage of whatever cause, which have grown big along with the leaf.  Nothing terminal.

Less heat, more light (put it out on sunny days, bring it back in at night until the nights are warmer).  It should prosper.

Thank you bédé! This is indeed very helpful! Yes I regretted so much for being so silly and forgetful seeing it dropped most of its leaves. I thought it had passed the point of no return. Thank you for giving me hope that I’m not going to (almost!) lose it again. Will definitely start to give it more sunbaths and keeping it warm at night. Hope it will thrive and have a happy life.
