@Busy-Lizzie At this time of year there is a real difference in the leaves between the two. The seedlings of phaeum are tufted and hairy and evergreen. Rosanne has yellowish green leaves as it emerges from the soil. Hope that helps.

I spoke too soon yesterday. Despite the rain I went out to take a look this morning and, pushing the snowdrop and daffodil leaves out of the way, I see mine are a few inches tall.
Mine are appearing here in Manchester but pretty small - the one in the sunniest border is the biggest and it's only three inches so far. They all seem to have made it so far though
I think all mine have survived but are only just showing. Whilst on the subject, can anyone tell me please whether this particular geranium 'runs' by means of underground shoots like the others or just clumps up in one spot? It does get rather tall and wide I know and I believe the flowers are sterile so don't set seed - I hope.
@Lizzie27 Geranium Rozanne doesn't run, just makes nice big clumps It is sterile so it won't self seed. I have a Geranium Johnsons Blue which has run like mad! I do like it though so don't mind too much.
@Lizzie27 I agree it doesn't run but it will cover alot of surface soil if happy. Good to let it weave in and out of other plants. One of it's parents is G Himalayense the other G Buxton's wallichianum Variety. G Johnson's Blue is a hybrid of G Himalayense and G Pratense. So if you grow any of these you will see the family likeness.

@Lizzie27 yes, it doesn't seed and doesn't run. In my experience though it REALLY clumps. You can split it - I had one plant and now I have about 20, I've split it so often. It clearly likes my conditions - I have moved all the ones that were in flower beds to now grow in long grass in the 'wild' bits of my garden. In the borders it was just swamping everything within a couple of metres.
