Some Nepeta’s looking threadbare

Hi

I have several Nepeta plants around my garden.  Many are looking like they’re growing well, but the older ones (from which I created them all) are definitely looking a bit less leafy and vigorous.

However, even these oldest ones are only in their third year.

Do I need to divide them already do you think?  Do you only get 2 years of vigorous bushy growth before needing to divide in the third year?  I thought they’d look good for a couple more years yet.

What is other people’s experience.

Thanks everyone

Dividing the older ones will reinvigorate them so hopefully you’ll get a few more years out of them.
Life's tragedy is that we get old too soon and wise too late.
