Sad philodendron

I've inherited this from a relative who was unable to care for it and had irregular, erratic waterings.  Shall I cut it back to X spot, remove all dead leaves and hope it revives or something else?

Think I’d cut it hard back and repot with good houseplant compost in a pot with plenty of drainage holes.

Ill cross my fingers for you 🤞

I would take some cuttings from the best material and start over. Lots of material there, you need some leaves with a bit of stem and ideally some nubs of roots that are forming (I see plenty there!) You can root them in water, then pot them up (say 3 to a pot) in a good free draining 'chunky' compost mix. The plant will probably grow best with a moss pole.
