Residue in wildlife pond normal?

Hello,
I build a wildlife pond in October and all was looking good. Now we are doing some of the plants are beginning to form. I have however noticed a residue appear and what I think are strings of algae collect.
Is this normal, should I remove it or is it larvae of sorts? I’ve attached some pictures of the substance
