    Unfortunately, Black Eyed Susan is a common name given to several types of Rudbeckia, with rather differing requirements, so we would need to know which type you mean.

    Black-eyed Susan is also a common name for Thunbergia alata, a half-hardy annual climber. They're fairly easy from seed, start them in small pots on a warm-ish bright windowsill, harden off when the risk of frost in your area is past.
    Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
