miniature rose in a planter

My father in law bought us a miniature rose.
I have a planter which is 60 cm deep x 30 cm square, which I want to put next to our back door step, which gets full sun from noon to sunset.
I've got loads of Innes No.3 compost.
Would the miniature rose do well there?

I think it would be very happy. Just don't forget to feed and water it  :)

Yes I think it would do great. Only if you have it available — if it was me I would add in a couple of large handfuls of horticultural grit to the JI3 and the same amount or maybe more of manure compost. (Always nice to have some manure compost, you can spread it on beds or top dress other potted plants with it.) And sprinkle a small handful of rose food on the top.

Water deeply until the water drains out, avoiding the leaves if you can, then leave it to not-quite-dry out, maybe watering like this every 7 to 10 days — if it’s in full sun then it could dry out quicker than usual. Often, rain isn’t enough to completely water a pot with a small diameter, so even if it’s been a bit wet it’s worth checking the pot soil if it’s dry underneath the first inch or so.
