Cordylines - are they dead?

This morning we decided to take off the protective fleeces from our palm and cordylines. We do the same each year, however today we were shocked. All 3 cordylines either looked dead or the middle part where the new growth comes from was mouldy. If I cut these back will they grow back or are they gone?

It's been a very common problem this winter @Ryan180680. Cycles of wet/freeze/thaw is the reason.
All you can do is wait and cross your fingers.
I wouldn't be hopeful about the first two, although you may get new growth appearing lower down, but the third one might be ok. I'd wait a few weeks with that one and see if it comes away, then you can cut away all the dead stuff.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Where abouts are you? How long have you had them.?They do like hot dry conditions. Would they have got waterlogged?

In the north west, Stockport. I've had them for over 5 years. And no more than any other years. Quite a few plants have succumbed to the same this year. So must have been the varying weather conditions. The palms also experienced the same but luckily there is new growth coming from them so hopefully they'll recover
