Rain and More rain

I have  twenty or so new plants recently bought in 1 litre pots  They look healthy enough but I am wary of planting them out in all this rain and cold wind.  How long can I keep them inside or should  I keep them in the pots in a sheltered area outside until the hourly rain eases off .

A related question. I would like to wait a month or so to let the spring flowers show and die down before planting out anyway as I want to see what has survived the winter and redesign a few areas.  How long can I keep the new plants in pots even if outside ?

If they're hardy plants (perennials, shrubs) they'll be better outside than in the house. They'll be fine as long as you keep on top of the watering. If it turns out that there's going to be a long delay (eg if you end up leaving them until autumn before planting) you could pot them on into bigger pots with some fresh compost.

Bronze fennel have long tap roots so the sooner they are planted the better.  Mine ( from seed ) have survived the last 2 years in the garden ( coastal Somerset) and are starting to produce their new growth again despite the current wet and windy weather.  If you bought from somewhere which had them under cover, they may well have more growth than would be normal at this time of year so you may need to give them some time in a sheltered spot outdoors before finally planting out.
Give the Blue grass the same treatment - ie sheltered from the worst of the wind and rain just to make sure they are happy enough to plant out.  It isn't usually bothered by wind/wet once established in a suitable site.

I'm sick of this rain too, but for a different reason.  I haven't managed to cut the grass at all this year.

I think would it's ok to keep them in their pots. I have lots of plants in pots and they look happy as long as they are watered and fed but of course you don't have a problem with watering as the weather stands.

If it gives you some relief, we've had rain for nearly 2 weeks in Derbyshire  :/
I wish I could garden all year round!

Since last summer's dry season I've decided to never ever complain about rain. ;)

During the BBC weather forecast in the last couple of days they reported that March was the wettest since 1982.
