Is this an osmanthus?

SueAtooSueAtoo Posts: 380

I'm trying to find out which one (if it is). Sweetly scented now (March). finely toothed small leaves. I've found one with small toothed leaves but flowering in the autumn. Whippy growth as it's in an overgrown very mixed hedge. Can anyone help? Thanks
East Dorset, new (to me) rather neglected garden.

You would be best pruning it after flowering May time, it is often planted as a hedge in milder areas.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
