Not got round to changing my name yet, but we were away the last two weeks and have returned to find the vine has gone mad! There are some new stems over 3 feet long, which all have flower buds on them. Is it too early to cut off the growth beyond the flower buds now? On some of the longer stems there is another two feet of growth beyond the flower buds. I'm concerned not to lose the grapes but also not to lose the greenhouse to a jungle of growth.
No longer newish but can't think of a new name so will remain forever newish.
We cut off the branches that don't show signs of fruit so yes you can cut back. This will also help the clusters to develop as food will be going more to them than to more growth....if that makes sense!
The stems I'm wondering about trimming are green and have flower buds on them, so I'm wanting to know if I cut them a couple of leaves beyond the flower buds. It's all gone a bit mad and I don't want to tie in shoots that I'm not going to keep. Thinking I'll try to find a YouTube video.....
