Unwanted Crocosmia Bulbs

  • @Joyce Goldenlily They're out in the open (I just dug them up and left them out) and I don't have a compost heap!
  • A dangerous game to play with crocosmia bulbs. They are almost indestructible and will grow from minute bulbils over a couple of years. In that case just bag them up, tie off the tops and store near your bin area for a year or so before using as mulch on the garden or putting into your black sack rubbish and not worry. You will probably find crocosmia popping up in your garden for several years to come
  • I bought a number of different varieties at the time and George Davison outpaced them all when it came to reproducing, even Lucifer. I've found a few coming up so far, some George Davison, some Emily McKenzie and some Rowallane Yellow.

    Wish mine was so productive. I have a single George Davison in the ground in a South facing bit. Whilst it does flower, it hasn't grown much or spread at all. Wish it would, I'm going to have to buy another to fill the gap!
    Slowly building a wildlife garden, in a new build in East Yorkshire.

    Offer them on Freecycle?
    East Dorset, new (to me) rather neglected garden.

    Maybe there's someone who will give you a few? 🤔😄

    @februarysgirl I filled half a waste bin too. 😄
    I love crocosmia, but with a tiny garden I can't have them running riot. I've kept a few, and when I free up a big container I'll put them in there instead - mostly out of sympathy. 😉
