Not one of my favourite plants but acuba is very tolerant of shade.
    In London. Keen but lazy.

I thought of Aucuba too, @B3, but was reluctant to broadcast that here!  There's a plain green version, A. japonica rozannie which can be acceptable.  They are quite slow growing though.

I wrote this earlier this morning and forgot to post it -  but you may throw up your hands in horror!

As we are often away and unable to water we gave in and bought an artificial leaf screen for our oil tank. It was in a local garden centre. Something like this.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Saraccoca confusa. We have 3 plants, one in full sun, one in partial shade and one in full shade. All grow well and produce the lovely fragrant flowers late winter and is everygreen. Will grow as tall as you want but can be cut back.

Not a bad idea for a place in dry shade with no ground to plant in @Busy-Lizzie . Could have one at each end, and they'd be easier to move if access was needed than a big heavy container.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

I’ve just noticed that someone flagged one of my posts on this thread yesterday, seems strange as other regular posters often include links to recommendations!

Thank you @Lyn, perhaps I should have added “other products are available”!

@Plantminded I sometimes hit flag by accident when I'm scrolling. I hope it wasn't me.
