Carrot, beetroot and pea first timer

I've never grown these from seed before and need some guidance please. Thought the children would enjoy sowing these in trays, but I don't know which are suitable for this (i.e. if some just get sown straight outside when the weather warms up a bit) and at what time to start each. Last year we very successfully grew peas but these were bought as small plants from the gardening centre. Any help would be appreciated on how to start these three veg from seed.

Quick further question - at the initial germination stage, seeds can be sprinkled together until they sprout then need individually separating? I have seed trays, are these for use at the stage after germination?

Peas are best sown into pots or deep modules , then plant out with as little disturbance as possible. Carrots best sown direct or they tend to just produce fibrous roots rather than the single you want. Beetroot best in modules too. The sort of things that do best sown and then pricked on are things like salads and other leafy crops tomato plants etc.

Great advice, thank you. Are modules the seed trays? With one seed in each?

They are seed trays with individual cells, so divided up like rows of little pots stck together.
You can get them with different sizes of cells .

Seed trays are as they sound @BouncingBack - just a big tray where seed is sown randomly or in rows, and then each plant is individually pricked out into it's own pot or similar.
The modules are basically a set of individual 'pots' joined together, usually 6 or 8, so yes - ideal for one or two seeds normally, although not exclusively.
