Can anyone I.D. these strange things

hezzhezz Posts: 7
I was given some medium sized pots by an elderly neighbour. As I was emptying them I noticed these in the old compost. They may be some kind corm as there seems to be a central stem from which stringy bits hang. The strings have bulbous blobs on the other end and one has a budding sprout. Neighbour can't recall what they might be but reckons he may have put them into the pots to store over winter.
AAny help greatly appreciated

One of them at least is starting into growth. Plant them in some fresh compost and see what happens. When they've got some leaves, post some more pictures and someone will probably be able to ID them more definitely.

    Hi All.
I think they could be Alstromerias.
They look very much like what I have just planted.

Thanks to everyone for all your help.
I've researched all suggestions and I think they may be alstromeria.
I've potted them up and I'm optimistic
