Camellia problem

It's definitely the 'wet/freeze' that does it to flower buds @Allotment Boy, and that's been the main problem this winter.
Snow really isn't a problem unless it's 'proper' snow which is thawing directly on buds over a long time, in the same way excessive rainfall affects them. It's why they often look lousy here, just when you're looking forward to flowers - they get too soggy. If you get flowers, it's rough weather that often does for those!
It's a bit ironic that we have the ideal conditions for growing them in the west of Scotland, but the weather often works against them too   :)

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Yes mine at home are good this year too, but I  know many  people have seen a lot of damage too.

Is it in the ground or a pot.? They are renown for hating frost then sun on their leaves.
  • @Nanny Beach, if you're asking me, both of my plants are in very large pots.  They each seem to enjoy their position.  :)

How on earth are you growing them @bcpathome? They don't die off that easily.
If they have no foliage, they've been declining for a while. There could be several reasons for it too.
They're extremely tough, hardy shrubs. They won't thrive in the wrong conditions though - too much sun, poor drainage, lack of moisture, wrong type of soil etc.

They are in pots and have been so with repotting as needed etc for the last5 years . This autumn I had a bad heart attack and was left in a wheelchair, although I am trying to get walking again . My husband had to be head gardener as well as looking after my needs ,but he had good instruction on watering feeding of all the garden plants .
He put fleece over them in the bad weather ,the only thing that hasn’t been done is re potting and renew of compost . I’m devastated because one of them was left to me to look after ,for a lady who was dying . I promised her I would and now look what’s happened.
