Reminds me of Lily of the Valley
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

Definitely Mahonia  - great fragrance and colour when there is little else.
  • And again, @Fairygirl, spot on. Reminds me on a saying of a colleague to me, “one wonders how it feels to know everything”  :)

    I my garden.

I think you're being over generous there @Simone_in_Wiltshire. I only know what I know. There's a massive amount that I don't know anything  about  ;)

I had hardly any flowers over winter on mine. They start flowering in November here, so they got hit by the sharp spell in December. Only one little patch that was lower down had enough protection due to the rest of the shrub overhanging it.
    C'est la vie...
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • I also tell my colleagues I don’t know most of what they ask me, but it doesn’t stop them asking because I’m able to work the answer.
In other words, don’t underestimate your ability 😀

    I my garden.
