Plants to grow on an exposed south facing balcony
I moved to my canal side house in September 21. I have a south facing large balcony (14' x 7' approx), and same space underneath at just above canal level, overlooking the canal and a fantastic view down the aire valley. It gets full sun in the summer (underneath gets some shade) but gets absolutely battered by the weather in the winter. Ideally would like some hardy plants to grow over the wharf wall and some to grow up the balcony from underneath (can build a planter. here) as well as plants in pots on the balcony itself. Also have a wall that could have a trellice on. Any advice on suitable hardy plants very welcome!

Suggestions could be made but they could also be expensive mistakes which I would hate to do. Do you have a photo of the wharf wall? It would be a good place to start.
Pots might be easier for ideas, Nasella would do well with sharpe drainage.
