Variegated Monstera white mould in soil.

Hello fellow gardeners,

I have a variegate Monstera which has white stuff on the soil. I feel maybe it needs repotting? I have removed the top crust and sprinkled some cinnamon on. Read it acts as a anti fungal. Any ideas please? I hope it does not affect Monstera.

Thank you.

Unless your potting compost/soil was 100% sterile, I'd think it is simply the natural breakdown of the compost.
If it isn't causing the plant a problem, I'd not worry.
Just to add, you may like to replace the plastic support with a mossed stick - helps the aerial roots to cling.
I'm sure others will have further advice.

Thank you Philippasmith2. I shall buy a moss post right away. I will keep an eye on it and top the soil up. I’m glad it’s not serious sounding.

Moss pole makes sense, I wouldn't be in a rush to repot. Remember not to overwater; you want the compost to become pretty dry between waterings.

Thank you Loxley. I should be receiving the miss post today. I’ve had the plant since mid Jan and watered it about 4 times. It was very dry yesterday before I gave it some water.
