I have 2 5m tall Cordaline Australis which are planted in the soil. They have been there at least 10 years. This winter the palm leaves have shed and the remaining leaves are going brown . Also, they are getting too big for my garden. Grateful for any suggestions ie pruning etc.

I've seen a large number of posts about these plants recently. Try doing a search for them. Lots of people have been asking similar questions after having issues with them this winter. Good luck.

You can pollard a Cordyline by cutting through the entire trunk with a pruning saw at whatever height you prefer. New shoots will appear below the cut and they will quickly hide the cut, developing into a multi headed shrub. Wait until the weather warms up to do this, ideally in May.
