Star jasmine turning brown

Hi,
I have a star jasmine growing over an arch. It’s fairly but not entirely sheltered from cold winds and has turned quite brown this winter although still has some green leaves. Is it likely to recover in the spring or is it just not happy in this location? Pic attached - any advice appreciated!

It does look very unhappy. We've had some very cold weather which it won't have liked. I think you will just have to wait and see. It may pick up in the warmer weather, but it may be too late.

It is on a trellis has it been subjected to a cold wind. Sadly I think there will be some dead ones locally to me. I also think you can only wait and see. Twenty years ago they were not grown here as they were thought of as not hardy.

Thanks I’ll wait and see. If it does survive next winter perhaps I should wrap it in fleece?

They certainly aren't hardy here where I am. Too cold windy and wet which isn't any use for them.
They can look pretty dire over winter though, from what others who grow them say, but they often come back when weather and temps improve  :)

It's more wet cold that's a problem, so this is where fleece often doesn't work. Dry cold is easier to deal with. You'd also have to make sure you put it on before cold sets in. Insulation holds cold just as easily as it holds warmth.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

I have one of this grown up against a shed and it has covered from other higher growing shrubs. Mine also looks similar to these, albeit there is more green leaves that on this picture. We're in Stockport. It did the same last year, but noway near as bad as this year. Fingers crossed yours comes back also
