Griselinia, Any ideas please, cold or disease?

Hello,

I’ve not posted for a while on here but wondered if someone can please help me determine what is going on with my Griselinia Littoralis. I have a small hedge of the standard green type (over  3yrs old) and two variegated plants in another bed  (2 years old).

They have recently started to die off with blackened/slimy branches and it appears that I’ve lost two whole plants now (I’ve cut one back to try to save it) , so that’s  one of each type and some other plants now look like they’re in the process of dying off/affected.

At first I put it down to the extreme  cold weather here in the S-E but now I’m starting to wonder could it be a disease?

They’ve survived snow before, with nothing more than a few black tips on new growth but I’ve not seen anything  like this so I’m starting to think something else might be going on with them.

Many thanks in advance 😊

I've just posted on another similar thread. Is this the same garden as that one?
    It looks the same  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Hi Fairygirl, that wasn’t my post (so I started my own thread) but I shared these pics on it. I have read you’re reply, very helpful, thank you 😊
