Are we to treat these the same as other roses regarding feed etc? I have trimmed mine back recently along with other roses and now believe I should not have done so. Is it true I will loose this years flowers? :/ T i a

I'm a great gallica fan.  They run around on their own roots (sucker) and pop up amongst my rhododentrons.  Shade and poor acid sand.  I never feed, spray, or water them.  I prune only a little after flowering.  Maybe a tidy before winter.  If you were too savage you may have lost most flowers.

I will post pics of mine in the season.  But here's a taster from 2022.

It is in fact of my own breeding.  Actually a sport/reversion of Rosamundi, I call it "officinalis"

location: Surrey Hills, England, ex-woodland acidic sand.
