Why do we garden?

Having lived in a 2nd floor flat, in a hot country where everything seared with the heat, and on a boat which was obviously 'garden challenged', I'm now loving my garden and I thank my lucky stars whenever I remember.

There's nothing that 'grounds' and challenges you in battling the elements like having a garden. People can enjoy doing a bare minimum in their garden, or they can work night and day in a labour intensive garden, it's all up to them, we're all uniquely different.

Another big plus is that it calibrates my existence with the seasons which is really special, especially as we're emerging from a winter.

Because I love it. Especially when my seeds start to sprout and push through the soil. And I don't give a **** what my neighbours think of my garden, the planting, the long grass, the untidy patches, it is my creation and I will have it any way I like.  :)

    The challenges & occasional successes.

Who am I kidding - it's because I like going out and getting all dirty.

I play with plants and soil and sometimes it's successful

Because I love nature, it's my soul food.

    Whatisthis?
  • As per my username really. I love being outside pottering about doing whatever. I am certainly no gardening expert but I enjoy doing what I do. I garden to make me happy. I enjoy my successes and failures.

To provide the most luxurious feline toilet in the neighbourhood. Nothing beats the thrill of discovering a fresh cat turd after working long and hard in your garden.
    Oh, the vanity.

Get a puppy, they eat it.
