    As opposed to doing what with the soil? 😄
  • if you don't sterilize the soil it will have weed seeds and other issues, as for beneficial bacteria that would not be helpful  since the soil is already likely depleted from previous use.

    punkdoc  you seemed to have missed the soil in
    question was in pots most likely potting soil not
    ground soil and it was infested with weeds.

    however the pots i have at the moment are full of weeds from the winter... if the soil can sustain weeds,
